Fairstead acquired the
Chocolate Factory Lofts in October 2019. Originally constructed as the Rockwood Chocolate Factory in the early 1890s, this Romanesque Revival style building was later converted to authentic loft-style apartments in the 20th century. A significant part of Brooklyn’s history, today the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is incorporated in the Wallabout Industrial Historic District.
Fairstead began implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation plan of significant in-unit and common area improvements that incorporates high-end luxury finishes with original features like exposed brick, reclaimed wood beams and over 12-foot ceilings. The rehabilitation plan includes the revitalization of all common areas including the lobby, hallways, gym, roof deck, courtyard, the addition of an integrated co-working space as a live-work amenity and multiple levels of in-unit renovations that span from flips to full gut renovations and floorplan modernization.
